Louis Jadot, Mâcon-Azé, 2022

France, Burgundy. 100% Chardonnay.

Louis Jadot does not really need an introduction. Established in 1859, it is still a family business with an impressive raft of wines from all the sub-regions of Burgundy. Located in Beaune their wines are readily available from many retailers and merchants. Waitrose seems to have had this particular Mâcon wine on their list for a few years through various vintages.

Light, refreshing, well-crafted and at this price a very good example of an old-school house making an excellent wine from Southern Burgundy. Fermentation and ageing will have taken place in stainless steel tanks to preserve fruit and freshness.

Foods might include salmon tartar, zucchini fritters, vegetable gratin, wok noodles, oeuf en meurette and, goat’s cheese. It is not a complicated wine, but is designed to be drunk within a few years of the harvest, and this 2022 in 2025 ticks a lot of boxes.
