Joey Tensley started work as a caller-hand in 1993 in Santa Barbara County and has worked across a number of prestigious wineries in the Southern Californian wine region. Starting his own venture in 1998, meeting his wife - also a winemaker - in 2002, has seen their business grow and develop internationally acclaimed wines using the grape varieties from the Rhone.

The Fundamental range is a slightly different project. The primary principle behind this ‘brand’ is straightforward: ‘In 2017 Joey also launched “Fundamental Wines” by Joey Tensley. The name was chosen because he felt it perfectly reflected the brand’s philosophy – make fundamentally sound, straightforward wines that over-deliver for the price on every level.’

Medium-bodied with good concentration of blackcurrants combined with balanced, but fresh, acidity, and some spicy components. Very, very drinkable with polished and refined tannins working well to enjoy alongside any roast meat.
